Unpacking, albeit slowly, and otherwise taking it easy today.
Last night, we went to get fancy steaks for dinner. Fleming’s Steakhouse is an odd place. From the overall vibe, it feels like they want to cater to the same segment of the population that goes to the Pine Club — Dayton’s venerable, crusty, most okayest steakhouse — but be less stodgy, a bit more fancy. Okay, fair. But what the décor, atmosphere, and overall vibe at Fleming’s actually give off is that they really wanted to be like the Cheesecake Factory*, but weren’t able to commit to the bit. And, as we all know, being unable, or unwilling, to commit to the bit is one of the saddest personal flaws a human can have. This also applies to inanimate objects, like restaurants.
Anyhow, M and I quietly talked shit about décor and design while we dined on petite filet mignon and bread with champagne butter. Later, we ordered deep-fried Oreos from Twist Indian and had them with vanilla bean ice cream. A lovely evening.

It was gusty outside the other day, and I was fighting for my life to get a cover onto the grill. The whole situation was annoying, for multiple reasons, so I turned it into a short, haunted video.
